Back in 1974, the Porsche 911 was already a rising star in the sports car sector, but the German automaker wanted to elevate the dream of owning one to new heights and invented the Turbo model – „a fascinating symbiosis of outstanding performance, confident elegance, and pure emotion.” Now, half a century later, there’s a new limited-edition Porsche 911 Turbo 50 Years special series with just 1,974 vehicles on tap.The series’ limited availability matches the original year of the first Porsche 911 Turbo, comes with a new ‘Turbonite’ color exclusive to the Porsche Turbo models, and has various historical references and details, including a tartan design on the seats or the Heritage Design package. The owners can also accessorize themselves when inside the car or out and about away from it – the Porsche Design Chronograph 911 Turbo 50 years is a timepiece also limited to 1,974 examples. However, if you really want to be exclusive – more exclusive than Porsche itself – then you need to go to Techart and get yourself a fresh GTstreet R Monochrome, either as a coupe or a Cabriolet. The German tuner, founded in 1987, specializes in Porsche products, so it’s easy to imagine they amassed a pretty outstanding experience on the 911 matter. The GTstreet R program is a fine example of that being put to good use, including with new special editions like the Flyweight or this new one.The flagship series has been derived in various formats already – the 19-unit Techart GTstreet R Flyweight is all about uncompromising performance via „consistent weight reduction, advanced racing technology, and Techart performance enhancement combined with a refined Flyweight clubsport interior.” But that’s not the only unique package – there are also the GTstreet R Touring, the „gentleman racer” with its cool ducktail-style rear spoiler, or this new GTstreet R Monochrome coupe and Cabriolet. The latest special version of the series comes with over 810 ps on tap – much more than the 650 ps registered officially by Porsche for the 911 Turbo S, the newest Formula 8 Race forged wheels, as well as a monochrome exterior appearance. However, don’t hurry to call it ‘murdered-out’ like on the West Coast of America – the all-black appearance is only 99%. As such, there are some subtle gold details on the outside and inside, and the wheels can also be painted the same color instead of black if you want them to pop out instead of blending in with the menacing appearance. It’s also about luxury and craftsmanship, thanks to the abundance of leather, carbon fiber, and Alcantara – whereas the new 22/21-inch forged wheels specifically designed for the Monochrome edition „combine lightweight construction and strength and support brake ventilation with an innovative five-spoke design.”
