Prospective customers are presented with a choice between 18 or 20 inches. Larger tires are obviously in the offing as well. The pictured vehicle, which is for sale at press time, is rocking 20s wrapped in 35- by 12.5-inch rubber. Founded by Afzal Kahn in 1998, the British company from Bradford has also modified the wheel arches. The finishing touch – as far as the exterior is concerned, that is – comes in the form of a branded spare wheel cover.Hopping inside reveals a plush cabin with Recaro seats beautified with Heritage Tan 3D Modular high-quality leather upholstery. Finished in Sela Green, the diesel-powered Grenadier Trailmaster features £15,000 worth of upgrades. Currently showing just 388 miles (624 kilometers) on the clock, this vehicle is listed for sale at £73,999 or just around $94,300 at current exchange rates.Due in July 2024, the full styling package further includes a more aggressive front grille, crosshair-styled twin exhaust pipes, and a roof-mounted rear wing. Surely not to everyone’s taste, said package is much easier on the eyes than Mansory’s styling packages for the Defender.Photo: Chelsea Truck Co.
Speaking of the Defender, everyone and their dog knows that Jaguar Land Rover dropped the body-on-frame model in favor of a unibody. It certainly is easy to blame JLR for selling out. However, given the increasing demand for the L663-series Defender, selling out was the right move. While it may be very capable off the beaten path, the Defender isn’t considered by those in the market for a proper 4×4. The Grenadier serves as the indirect successor to the body-on-frame Defender, and in stark contrast to its forerunner, the Grenadier is manufactured in France instead of the UK.Another big difference comes in the form of BMW muscle, namely turbocharged inline-six engines. Land Rover once used the BMW-developed M52B28 for the Defender in South Africa only, with said powerhouse offered between 1997 and 2000. Not exactly a coincidence, BMW called the shots at Land Rover from 1994 through 2000.Not available in the United States, the diesel-drinking sixer of the green-painted Grenadier is good for 249 PS and 550 Nm of torque, meaning 246 horsepower and 406 pound-feet. As for the gasoline-fueled sib, that one is closely related to the Supra’s inline-six engine. But as opposed to the Japanese coupe, the Grenadier features a detuned engine. Think 286 ps and 450 Nm (282 horsepower and 332 pound-feet) as opposed to 340 ps and 500 Nm (335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet).As of May 2024, the Grenadier 5-Seat Utility Wagon carries a sticker price of £64,500.00 in the UK or $71,500 in the US of A. The Land Rover Defender 110, meanwhile, can be yours from either £60,470 or $60,800.
