The latest generation Mercedes G-Wagen has become a tuning icon, as most major companies and a few small ones sell numerous components for it. Whether it is a widebody kit, new wheels, a customized interior, or significantly more power, name it, and it’s been done.
Several copies of the modern-day Mercedes G-Class have become serious off-roaders. Others are simply mall crawlers, whereas a select few have become rolling works of art, like Carlex’s G-Falcon that we had the chance to meet in the flesh earlier this year. The same Polish tuner turned the 2024 Mercedes-AMG G 63 into the G-Vintage a few months back, so why revisit it today? It wasn’t ready then, whereas now, the model has just entered limited production at Carlex Design, and the company has decided to release more images of it.Inspired by the 1970s, the Carlex G-Vintage is available in several bright exterior paint finishes and features numerous chrome appointments all around. It rocks a set of 20-inch alloys inspired by the hubcaps of classic Mercedes vehicles from back in the day, and to stay true to the long-gone era, it also has white-wall tires.Photo: Carlex Design
Speaking of the exterior colors, the tuner mentioned nine of them, called the Green Breeze, Sand Dune, Pink Glow, Raspberry Punch, Tangerine, Champagne Fizz, Lime Pop, Ivory, and Noir. All of them sport white accents, and the tuner also signed some exterior components. Moreover, the Carlex Design logo decorates the new grille and shiny spare wheel holder, as well as other parts, and a pinstripe bedecks the car. Now, this is Carlex Design, a tuner famously known for its exquisite interior work, and with so much knowledge in this field, it hasn’t left the G-Vintage’s cockpit untouched. It is far from it, actually, as this G-Wagen boasts vintage leather and Alcantara, which are available in three hues. The rear cargo area was also refreshed, sporting wooden panels, and it is just as exciting (if not more) as some of the tuner’s previous takes on the modern-day G-Wagen.Carlex is not famous for massaging the oily bits of its projects. However, the G-Vintage benefits from more oomph, and it rocks 805 horsepower and 752 pound-foot (1,020 Nm) of torque, tapping out at 162 miles per hour (260 kph).If you have to ask how much it costs, chances are you cannot afford it. Therefore, Carlex hasn’t released any pricing details, and we suspect it is one very pricey cookie, albeit an extremely cool proposal that manages to make the famous G 63 even more exciting. The first example is in the making at the tuner’s facility in Poland, and deliveries are expected to commence next March. So, is this one of the most interesting takes on the latest G-Wagen you’ve ever seen, or do you prefer others, like the stunning Yachting Edition?
